Economic Integration of Tunisia

“ALDE proposes Tunisia’s economic integration” by Olivier Mirguet for Europolitics:

“Despite the crisis, the European Union has an obligation towards Tunisia. We must give thought to its economic integration and take the chance of trusting religious parties, which should not be viewed only with wariness”. Marielle de Sarnez (ALDE, France) submitted a proposal for economic support for the “rule of law” being built in Tunisia at her group’s hearing at the European Parliament, on 15 November, of two Tunisian and Egyptian political figures, candidates for the presidency in their respective states. “We still treat all Southern Mediterranean countries in the same way. We have to encourage those that have organised revolutions by freeing up the economy, often left in the hands of a few oligarchies with which the Union has trade relations.
