Spain is Committed to “Frontex Plus”

“Spain vows to contribute to Frontex Plus,” from ANSAmed:

Spain’s Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz told a joint press conference with Italian counterpart Angelino Alfano, at the end of a meeting yesterday in Madrid, that his country will be supporting Frontex plus, which will replace Italy’s sweeping surveillance and rescue program Mare Nostrum, and ”our willingness to provide maritime, terrestrial and air means, with the engagement of the Guardia Civil”.

After Berlin, Alfano has thus obtained the support of Spain for a coordinated action to halt mass arrivals of migrants and refugees to southern Europe through an operation which, according to the rotating president of the EU Council, could be kick off in November…
